June 6th 2010 Sunday Message Summary
Scripture: Proverbs 15:22 , Isaiah 45:11
If you ask the Lord, he resolves our problems with just one word. If you truly ask the Lord just once, he can tell us to do it or not to do it. However, people truly don’t do this and instead ask other people or do things on their own.
In the process of doing things, people have a tendency to allow the work to take over, and it ends up dictating the direction they go in. When this happen, we end up doing things according to our own thinking instead of God’s thinking.
Let’s say a man goes to a barber to get a haircut. The man told the barber to just trim a little bit, but instead they cut off all of the hair and gives the man a crew cut. If this was you, how mad would you be? The Lord is in the same position. So many people who do the Lord’s work mess it up to the point it is irreparable. People do the work as if it is their own, but it is the Lord’s. Imagine how miserable and sad the Lord feels to have to witness and see us do this.
When doing the Lord’s work, we have to ask the Lord his preferences and which methods we should use. We must do it according to his Will and ask what they want. In doing any of our work, we need to measure it with a ruler and measure it on the scale of the Lord. In this way, we can be his hands and feet in detail. We must ask and discuss with the Lord while doing his work.
Instead of asking though, we look at our environment and circumstances and take care of them according to our own thoughts. Some people think it’s their own work and think in strange ways. All of these thing are revealed when they are checked.
There are too many things people do without asking the Lord and do it in their own way. Many times people ask the Lord when they have made up their minds already, or when it’s in progress already, or even when it’s already completed. People do this because they think they will not be approved if they ask first.
You must discuss with the Lord and only do the things that are absolutely necessary. Those who do things after discussing with the Lord, are doing the Lord’s Will. Even if you’ve prayed and believe you’ve done it according to the Lord’s Will, there are too many times when it was not the Lord’s Will. Reflect on the things that you’ve done in the past and fix the things that you’ve done according to your own will. Even if it delays the work, you must still ask first. (1Sam15:22)
When a person sins, there’s always a reason. But will God say it’s not a sin because there’s a reason? Sin is sin. Despite your reasons, you must follow the words of the Lord. Regardless what the issue is, everything is weighed on if you have asked the Lord or not. Only when you do things according to God’s Will can his will be fulfilled on the earth. If you are truly a bride of the Lord, you would consult with him in everything that you do.
The Lord says, “Whatever you do, before taking action, ask me about everything from small things to big things, on every occasion. Just as a blind man frequently checks with his staff when he walks on a busy street, you also should keep asking me and verifying with me, using ‘the staff of asking,’ before taking action.” You should clearly ask questions in detail. Then no problems will occur because you will do the Lord’s work thoroughly with confidence and with all your heart and because the Lord will work with you.
In today’s Scriptures, it says, ‘Plans fail for lack of counsel.’ You will fail forever if you don’t consult with the Lord. The Lord holds eternity. If you do well, it will be yours forever. If you don’t do well, it also will be yours forever. If you do well, you will live in Heaven forever. If you don’t do well, you will live in Hell forever. There is always ‘eternity’ with the Lord. If you do well, it is ‘eternal’ in that good direction, and if you don’t do well, it is ‘eternal’ in that bad direction.
If you are the Lord’s brides, whether you eat, wear clothes, sleep or whatever you do, you need to consult with Lord in all things you do. Those who are not the Lord’s brides do things without asking the Lord. They ask and do things only when they are dissatisfied or when they feel frustrated. The Lord evaluated these kinds of people and said that they had faith at the level of servants or at the level of brothers. If they do not change, they will belong to the levels of salvation, where they have not changed and their spirits will go to those corresponding domains.
When you lecture, evangelize, rent a church building, give an offering or whatever else you do, you should ask him about it all—even if there are thousands or tens of thousands of items. Why do you have to ask the Lord before taking action? The reason is that you think it’s his will for you to do a certain thing but it is not his will from the Lord’s standpoint. Or, the reason is that you may do it, but the Lord’s will is for you to do it in a different way.
Even if they are small, if people ask the Lord and do things according to the Lord’s will, they are the greatest people of mission.
Some of the secrets of success are “Diligence, hard work, and calculation.” If you are slow in calculation, you will suffer loss.
<The Lord’s Words>
Things that you have done without asking the Lord are of little merit. If even after this message, you still do things after doing things according to your own Will, do things influenced by other’s words, do things carelessly, do things because you haven’t received an answer from prayer, it will cause loss to your body, your church, and also to the Lord.
Whoever does things without asking, even if they seem to be doing well and have big hope at first, all their work will end up in vain. Satan uses the condition on which you did not discuss with the Lord. You must do things asking the Lord from the beginning to the end. Think that the Lord will only answer you if you ask him.
One of the crucial aspects to the 2nd coming is asking the Lord. This is why the Lord tells us to ask. Whoever does things asking the Lord is one who loves the Lord, and whoever does things according to their thoughts and situations without asking is one who loves themselves.
