I Have Faith in You but Why Don’t You Have Faith in Me?
January 11, 2009 Sunday Message Matthew 17:14 – 20
Original Message by Joshua Jung Myung Seok
Summary by Will Yeh & Shaun McMillan
During prayer the Lord said the following: “I have faith in you, but why don’t you have faith in me about the things that I do.”
What this means is that we doubt wondering, “Are you really helping me?” Or during times of tribulations and difficulties and hardships we are only worried, concerned, and anxious. He said, “The reason all you do is worry, be concerned, and are anxious is because you do not have absolute faith.” Do you understand the meaning of these words?
Just as the Lord has faith in us we must have faith in the Lord no matter what the reasons are. Then there will be no worries, concerns, anxieties, or harm, the Lord will take decisive action with joy, give us answers to our prayers, and make our hopes come true.
Faith has nothing to do with connections you have, what you look like, or your outward appearance. Faith is your will power. Faith comes from knowing and become more solid with knowledge. Understanding comes from knowing. If things are explained in detail, then people will understand.
You must believe. Then the Lord will work with you. The fact that you believed means that you already took action of faith with your heart. It means that you have supplied the conditions. Therefore, if you believe, history will happen and worries will leave your hearts. Believing means that you took action in your mind.
You must know just how big a role faith plays in living a life of faith. I gave you this message today to tell you that even if you believe God and the Lord as the absolute beings, have faith that God and the Lord will give us the things we pray earnestly about in our lives.
Because He loves us he always does things for us through people and does things for us personally even though God and the Lord are not visible to us. You must defeat the forces of evil with thanksgiving and gratefulness and the power of prayer.
Jan 14th 2009 Wednesday Message
In the scriptures it is said, “If you have faith as big as a mustard seed you will perform miracles of moving mountains.” What is better than money and better than gold or silver or jewels is mustard sized faith. If you have faith as big as a mustard seed the miracle of faith of moving mountains will happen. With that faith any disease can be healed and any problems can be solved.
What seeds are smaller than this? Tell me. Your seeds, the human seed. In other words, your genes. It is the smallest seed in the world but once that seed grows, it becomes the greatest being in nature, the most supreme of all creation.
Jesus, as the smallest seed among the people of the world, and as a human being, made big trees that can cover the world become his believers. Everyone, if you don’t think you are small, if you will take action with absolute faith in the Lord, then you will become big people.
When he talks about not having faith even as big as a mustard seed, it doesn’t mean that we don’t even have a seed-sized faith. The mustard seed size faith that the Lord was talking about is absolute faith. He is talking about absolute faith that is not even as big as a mustard seed. He is talking about faith that is absolute, complete, and flawlessly perfect. The Lord said, “Serve perfectly. Serve God perfectly with all your heart, will, and life.” He is talking about perfect service that is as big as a mustard seed.
In Matthew 19:16-24 Jesus told the wealthy young man, “If you want to be perfect, sell all your possessions, give to the poor, and follow me.” For the young man, this was the mustard-seed size faith. The young man failed to move the mountain of himself to the Lord because he did not have even mustard seed sized absolute faith in the Lord.
When the Lord has faith in us, he doesn’t have just a little faith in us. He believes in us with faith like that of a mustard seed, with living faith that is perfect, complete, flawless, and absolute.
Everyone, did you really have faith in the Lord perfectly and completely? Think about it. If you had, miracles like that of moving mountains would have happened and it will be an example, and if you didn’t believe, mountain-moving miracles would not have happened.
Life is an individual game. Each must diligently make himself/herself competent. Then, those who are watching will also help you and follow you with hope.
